Vivian is a plein air painter who enjoys the challenge of capturing the changing light and atmosphere in her oil paintings while on location along the central coast and inland valleys. Starting out in the science field and then moving into the computer industry, Vivian is happy that she has found a new vocation. After retiring and moving to the Monterey Peninsula, she decided to try some artistic ventures. She added an interior design degree to her resume and started pursuing drawing and painting classes. She has been lucky enough to widen her experience by taking workshops with artists that she admires including Calvin Liang, Ray Roberts, Brian Blood, Randall Sexton, Ovanes Berberian, John Budicin and Mark Farina. She is experienced in pastels, watercolor, oils and acrylics. In addition to seascapes, landscapes, and architecture, Vivian enjoys painting still life and the figure. Whatever the medium or context, Vivian is most inspired when working from real life rather than photographs.
